An inspiring video for future generations of brilliant women
'Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.' It's a quote that's all over the internet nowadays, and we're fully on board. But it's definitely that last bit that might be the hardest part. And even if you're doing your damn best, there's still the outside world.
Research has shown that gender stereotypes are defined between the ages of five and seven, affecting future career choices. Centred on this, the British Council's Inspiring Women China programme – which connects students with professional women in an aim to inspire girls to be more ambitious – released 'Redrawing the Balance', a short video about gender stereotypes. It's beautiful, evocative and will stick with you. Watch it below.
